Thermo W
The heating system Thermo supplies the piglets in the farrowing pen with constant and advantageous floor warmth. This reduces the risk of dead losses during the first critical days after birth. The piglets feel comfortable. This is the Thermo W has been used successfullysince 1992. Thermo W 400 x 600 mm 15 3/4″ x 23 5/8″ water heating panel.

Heat performance: approx. 90 Watt at 18°C (64,4°F) room temperature
Average performance: approx. 6o Watt in the far rowing sector.
Operating pressure: no pressure or max. 1.5 bar (21.75 psi)
Regulation: only with Do.Jet regulation systems.
In a practical comparison of different heating systems - carried out at the university of Kiel, Gertnam- - the Thermo warm water panels achieved excellent results. The combination of an optimal warmth distribution and a continuous warmth supply lead to the highest growth rates which is the most ideal resting condition and the lowest scattering of piglet weight within a litter. It also gives the lowest burning time of additional lamps in the first few days giving permanent cleanness in the piglet resting area.
The warm water heating panel Thermo W is available in this size: 400 x 600 mm (15 3/4″ x 23 5/8″). It is controlled bv DoJet 2 or Do.Tet 4 regulation units.
Application :
It is an ideal complement in farrowing pens and nursery rooms for a quick and healthy growth of the piglets.
Temperature Regulation:
To take full advantage of its optimal technical equipment, the piglets lying behavior has to be the relevant. Piglets of different ages require different temperatures. You as operator of this system, have an influence on the growth performance of the piglets carefully by observing them.
The best time to check the behavior of the animals is before lunch break as the animals are of resting at this time. Please use this moment only for observing the piglets and not to do any other kinds of work to disturb them, like feeding, drinking, or moving them etc. All your attention should be on the piglets.
Please adjust the water temperature of approx. 46°C for the birth period, which results, according to the surrounding conditions in the pig house, in a surface temperature of approx. 38 - 41°C on the Thermo W panels. The lying behavior of the piglets should meet with the figure sketch.
For the first one or two days, an additional infrared radiator has to be installed over the piglet nest owing to the very high warmth requirements of the piglets in this period. (The animal has no energy reserves yet and, their metabolism has to reach full activity.
