Solraya – A Chicken Named Sunshine
Chicken with a name? Why, yes! Sunshine Chicken by Solraya
This brand of chicken is fast catching fire in the country with Solraya’s unique relationship with growers and with its strategic location – in Metro Manila. it is very close to SM Fairview (Regalado Avenue cor. Quirino Highway, Quezon City) and up north, it is along the Maharlika Highway in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya. Growers everywhere, even those south of Manila, are agog over a chance to get their hands on this well-endorsed breed of sasso chicken.
Solraya Enterprises president and owner of the Sunshine Chicken brand, Sandy Itchon, takes pride in the quality of her products and the difference that they make in relationships with growers as they exude genuine concern and commitment to help growers who come to them and succeed in carrying the Sunshine brand.
“We take time out to brainstorm with our growers and we never stop innovating in order to broadly satisfy the market,” Sandy shares. “We actually do farm visits and conduct free seminars. We are that concerned.”
Sandy explains how they started: “Solraya spun off from another business established by our veterinarian Doc Rev. He started out with veterinary products and supplies. We wanted another company that would cater to another market, one that would make a statement, and that would carry products and brands we would be proud of, but fairly priced and detailed by veterinarians in clean and air-conditioned stores. It was to be an innovative veterinary store. Then we read about the Sasso freerange chickens. At first, we distributed the chicks straight from the importer.
Eventually, we stopped importing parent stocks and refocused. It was then that we formed a new alliance with Sasso, that time branding our produce as sunshine Chicken.”
Sandy also makes this revelation: “What we sell are day-old chicks of tested quality. Our dealers are respected names in the industry with outlets centrally located nationwide. Our growers are the ones that raise and market the dressed grass-fed Sunshine Chickens.”
She clarifies, “Of course, on top of developing dealers who raise Sunshine Chicken for meat, we also develop dealers who sell day-old chicks on retail and those who raise them for egg laying. We treat all types of dealers fairly, providing sales and advertising support as called for.” And just what is Solraya’s secret to success? Says Sandy: “Our focus is getting our dealers more and more known and for them to grow bigger and bigger in terms of sales. We fully assist them in marketing.”
As for their plans, Sandy quips: “We are constantly on our toes innovating and brainstorming with our growers to be able to produce products catering to different niches of the market.
Such a tireless spirit!
