Agriculture Business Week

Six new agriculture and fisheries technologies and products developed by the research sector are ready for commercialization. These were presented at the 2nd National Agriculture and Fisheries Technology Forum held at the Bureau of Agricultural Research recently.

These are:
1. “Live feed substitutes in hatchery and nursery ponds,” presented by Myrna Teruel of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC/AQD) based in Tigbauan, Iloilo.

2. “Essential oil production from different plant sources” by Fides Tambalo, Ronilo Violanta, Teresita Espino, and Roshena Arevalo of UP Los Banos – National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (UPLB- Bio tech).
3. “Commercial seaweed extracts” by Dr. Marco Nemesio Montano of the UP Diliman – Marine Science Institute (MSI).

4. “Hot water treatment as a method of disease control and disinfestation for carabao tnango” by Dr. Kevin Yaptenco, Marcelino Reyes, Jose de Ramos and Emmanuel Amatorio of the UPLB Postharvest Horticulture Training and Research Center (PHTRC).

5. “Goat production technologies in Region I” by Dr. Jovita Datum of the DA-Regional Field Unit I – IloCos Integrated Agricultural Research Center.

6. “Biovac HS vaccine for ruminants and Biovac FC vaccine for poultry” by Dr. Helen Molina of the UPLB College of Veterinary Medicine.
