Pangasinan Mango Congress Slated
It is still nine months away but the members of the mango growers’ association in Pangasinan are already preparing for the holding of the 12th National Mango Congress in Lingayen, Pangasinan on February 22 to 24 next year.
At the recent mango congress in Tagbilaran City attended by a delegation from’Pangasman headed by provincial board member Danny Uy and association president Patricio Evangelista, they revealed the plans for the forthcoming mango convention.
The first two days will be spent in social activities as well,as discussion of the latest developments in the mango industry. Various stakeholders in the industry will showcase their products for the visitors to see. Suppliers of inputs will be there for product presentations.
More importantly, the latest research results on various aspects of mango production, financing and marketing will be discussed by experts. Problems in pest and disease control and prevention will be given priority. Strategies in offseason production of mango will also be discussed.
Aside from discussions on various mango topics, the. participants who are expected to come from various parts of the country, will enjoy a tour of the mango farms as well as the famous tourist destinations in the province. Danny Uy said he will harness the help of various organizations to ensure the successful holding of the national mango convention in his province.
Pangasinan is considered as the number one producer of mango in the Philippines. Its mangoes are also claimed to be among the sweetest. The national mango congress is held every year with the venue rotating among Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
